AfD Pushes Migration Policy Debate

Published: 2025-02-25

The Brandenburg AfD is set to introduce the controversial Five-Point Plan for stricter migration policies, originally proposed by the CDU/CSU, into the state parliament.

This move aims to challenge the SPD-BSW coalition and CDU opposition on their stance.

The plan includes measures like rejecting asylum seekers at Germany's borders.

Previously, the AfD in Saxony-Anhalt attempted a similar strategy, but the proposal was delayed in committee.

Meanwhile, the AfD's Bundestag presence has nearly doubled to 152 seats, including controversial figures like Matthias Helferich, sparking internal and external criticism.

The SPD continues to advocate for an AfD ban, citing the party as a threat to democracy.

As coalition talks between the CDU and SPD begin, migration remains a divisive issue.
