A violent altercation in Herten, Germany, left two men, aged 22 and 28, severely injured on Saturday.
The incident occurred outside a café in the city center, where a dispute among several men escalated.
Police have arrested a 56-year-old suspect near the scene and are searching for another man seen in a video wielding what appears to be an axe.
The footage, shared on social media, shows the suspect repeatedly attacking another individual.
Authorities are investigating the case as attempted murder but have yet to determine the relationships or motives behind the attack.
Parts of the city center were temporarily sealed off, but most areas reopened by evening.
