In a coordinated protest, climate activists from the group "Letzte Generation" have disrupted operations at several major German airports, including Berlin-Brandenburg, Stuttgart, Nuremberg, and Cologne/Bonn.
The activists, wearing orange vests, managed to access the airside areas of these airports, where they glued themselves to the tarmac and displayed banners reading "Oil kills" and "Sign the treaty.
" While the runways themselves were not entered, the actions led to temporary suspensions of flight operations in Nuremberg and Cologne/Bonn.
Police and emergency services were deployed to manage the situation, and in some cases, tools like bolt cutters were found near the sites of entry.
The protests are part of a broader campaign by the group to urge the German government to commit to phasing out fossil fuels by 2030. This follows a series of similar demonstrations at airports across Germany in recent weeks.
