A Munich court has ruled in favor of former BSI chief Arne Schönbohm, prohibiting ZDF and satirist Jan Böhmermann from making claims linking him to Russian intelligence.
Schönbohm had sued over statements made in a 2022 episode of "ZDF Magazin Royale," which he argued spread false information and damaged his reputation.
The court found that some of Böhmermann's remarks violated Schönbohm's personal rights, though it denied his demand for €100,000 in damages.
The court deemed certain statements as permissible satire but ruled others as untrue and defamatory.
This decision could have broader implications, including for Interior Minister Nancy Faeser, who reassigned Schönbohm following the controversy.
Schönbohm is also pursuing legal action against the ministry for alleged wrongful treatment.
