In January, renowned cycling activist Andreas Mandalka, known as "Natenom," tragically died in a road accident in Baden-Württemberg.
Eight months later, the Pforzheim public prosecutor has issued a penal order for negligent manslaughter against the 78-year-old driver involved.
The accident occurred on a clear day, with the driver allegedly failing to notice Mandalka, who was visible with a safety vest and bike lights.
The driver, who hit Mandalka at 80-90 km/h, faces a fine and a two-month driving ban but has appealed the decision.
Mandalka's death has resonated nationwide, highlighting his advocacy for safer cycling conditions and prompting memorial rides across Germany.
