A 24-year-old convicted criminal escaped during a supervised outing in Plattling, Bavaria, prompting a police manhunt.
The man, who is classified as extremely dangerous, was serving time for a homicide offense at the Mainkofen psychiatric hospital in Deggendorf.
He managed to flee while accompanied by two hospital staff members.
Authorities have deployed a helicopter and are actively searching for him.
Police have warned the public not to approach the fugitive and to call emergency services immediately if spotted.
