DHL Stops Deliveries to Duisburg High-Rise

Published: 2024-07-29

DHL has stopped delivering packages to a high-rise building known as the "Weißer Riese" in Duisburg, Germany, citing safety concerns for its delivery staff.

The company stated that there have been repeated "threatening delivery situations" at the location, which houses 320 apartments across 20 floors.

However, local police reported that the number of crime reports in relation to the building's population density is low, indicating no significant safety issues.

Residents must now pick up their packages from a nearby post office, a 30-minute walk away.

Competing delivery services like DPD, GLS, and Hermes continue to deliver to the building without issues.

The situation has sparked mixed reactions among residents, with some understanding DHL's decision while others criticize it as an overreaction.
