Germany Begins Partial Evacuation from Lebanon

Published: 2024-10-02

In response to escalating tensions in Lebanon following the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, Germany has initiated a partial evacuation of its citizens and embassy staff from Beirut.

A German military aircraft recently transported around 110 individuals, including embassy personnel and medically vulnerable citizens, back to Berlin.

The situation in Lebanon has become increasingly volatile, with the German government raising the crisis level and advising its nationals to leave the country.

Despite the evacuation efforts, the German embassy in Beirut remains operational, continuing to assist those still in the region.

The German government estimates that approximately 1,500 of its citizens are still in Lebanon, and further evacuation measures are being considered as commercial flight options dwindle.
