A tragic hit-and-run incident occurred in Ankum, Osnabrück, where a 28-year-old pedestrian was fatally injured by a taxi.

The accident happened early in the morning when a 31-year-old driver, off-duty, struck the pedestrian under unclear circumstances.

The victim was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

Initially, the driver fled the scene but later reported to the police.

Authorities have confiscated the vehicle, and tests for alcohol and drugs on the driver returned negative.
