The number of Islamist threats in Germany is on a decline, according to the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA).
As of August 1, 472 individuals were classified as religiously motivated threats, a decrease from 483 in 2023 and 520 in 2022. Despite this reduction, over 200 individuals remain under surveillance within Germany, with 96 currently incarcerated.
The BKA warns that the threat level remains high, particularly due to ongoing conflicts like the war in Gaza, which could incite further radicalization.
The Islamic State's Khorasan Province branch is reportedly pursuing an international agenda, raising concerns about potential threats entering Germany through more permeable eastern borders.
Security agencies remain vigilant, emphasizing the persistent risk of Islamist terrorism in the country.
