Magdeburg Attack: New Details Emerge

Published: 2025-02-06

Taleb Al Abdulmohsen, the driver behind the deadly Magdeburg Christmas market attack, has been transferred to a Leipzig prison hospital due to medical reasons.

The 50-year-old, who killed six people and injured nearly 300 by driving through the market, had previously been moved from Saxony-Anhalt to Dresden.

Authorities suspect the attack was a premeditated act, as Al Abdulmohsen had rented the vehicle days before.

Investigations reveal no signs of drug or alcohol influence, and experts believe he was mentally competent at the time.

Meanwhile, an inquiry into alleged police misconduct during his arrest is ongoing, though no disciplinary actions have been taken.

A psychiatric evaluation is expected to confirm his culpability in the coming weeks.
