Elon Musk, the influential tech billionaire and owner of the social media platform X, has stirred controversy in Germany by endorsing the far-right AfD party ahead of the Bundestag elections.
Musk declared on X that "Only the AfD can save Germany," a statement that has drawn sharp criticism from across the political spectrum.
The AfD, known for its right-wing populist stance, welcomed Musk's support, with party leader Alice Weidel expressing gratitude.
However, other political leaders, including FDP's Christian Lindner, cautioned Musk against making "hasty conclusions from afar.
" The SPD's Bavarian faction responded by deleting their X accounts, citing the platform as a hub for hate and misinformation.
Meanwhile, Left Party leader Jan van Aken called for a publicly funded alternative to X, accusing Musk of turning the platform into a propaganda tool.
The incident has reignited debates about the role of social media and foreign influence in democratic elections.
