In the wake of disruptive protests at Frankfurt Airport, police have conducted raids on the homes of members of the climate activist group Last Generation.
The Frankfurt public prosecutor's office initiated these searches, targeting eight individuals aged 20 to 44 across several German states, including Berlin and Baden-Württemberg.
The activists had previously staged a glue protest on July 25, which temporarily halted airport operations, leading to significant flight cancellations.
Authorities are investigating charges of coercion, property damage, and trespassing, with DNA samples collected for evidence.
Hessian Interior Minister Roman Poseck has condemned the protests as serious crimes, asserting that the motivations behind them should not mitigate their impact.
The Last Generation group, however, claims these actions are peaceful protests and views the police raids as intimidation tactics against their climate activism.
