Scholz Pushes Green Economy in Wolfsburg

Published: 2025-01-18

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz launched his election campaign in Wolfsburg, emphasizing a green transformation of the economy and the protection of industrial jobs.

Speaking to a crowd of 1,500, Scholz highlighted plans for climate-friendly steel production and investments in hydrogen and electric mobility.

He proposed a "Made-in-Germany" bonus to encourage domestic investments and criticized opposition leader Friedrich Merz for opposing green initiatives.

The event, set against the backdrop of Volkswagen's struggles, aimed to reconnect the SPD with workers and the middle class.

Scholz also defended his decision to remove the FDP from the coalition, drawing loud applause.

Despite challenges, he presented himself as a steady leader focused on economic growth and social fairness.
