Severe Storms Hit Northern Germany

Published: 2024-09-27

Northern Germany is bracing for a powerful autumn storm, with the German Weather Service (DWD) issuing warnings for regions including Niedersachsen, Bremen, and the North Sea coast.

Meteorologists predict wind speeds reaching up to 110 kilometers per hour, particularly in coastal areas and islands.

The storm is expected to bring heavy rain and thunderstorms, with wind gusts in the inland areas reaching up to 80 kilometers per hour.

As a precaution, several ferry services in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern have been suspended.

The storm is anticipated to subside by the weekend, with temperatures dropping to around 8 degrees Celsius overnight.
