Temperatures have been rising steadily in Germany, with a hot weekend expected, particularly in southern Lower Saxony where highs could reach 34 degrees Celsius.

However, the pleasant weather may be short-lived as severe thunderstorms are forecasted for Sunday in Niedersachsen and Bremen.

The German Weather Service (DWD) warns of heavy rain that could last for several hours, along with strong gusts of wind reaching up to 100 kilometers per hour and possible hail.

The storms are expected to move in from the west starting in the morning.

Meanwhile, the Deichbrand Festival in Nordholz, Cuxhaven, has so far escaped the rain, but the weather may change as the night progresses into Monday.
