Germany is bracing for a severe winter storm as the weather system "Quiteria" sweeps across the country, bringing strong winds and heavy snowfall.
The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued warnings for various regions, particularly in the south, where up to 30 centimeters of snow is expected in parts of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria.
This has prompted alerts for potential "danger to life and limb" due to the heavy snow cover, which could disrupt mobility and block roads.
The storm is expected to bring polar air, causing temperatures to drop significantly, with highs ranging from 0 to 6 degrees Celsius.
In the north, snow and sleet are anticipated, while the west and southwest may experience thunderstorms.
The DWD advises caution as icy conditions are likely to persist, especially in higher altitudes, with the possibility of storm-force winds in mountainous areas.
As the week progresses, the weather is expected to remain cold and unsettled, with further snow showers and frosty nights.
