Tanker Fire Averted in Baltic Sea

Published: 2024-10-12

A major disaster was narrowly avoided when a fire broke out on the tanker 'Annika' in the Baltic Sea between Germany and Denmark.

The tanker, carrying 640 tons of oil, was en route from Rostock to Travemünde when the fire erupted.

Quick action by rescue teams, including firefighters from Kiel, Lübeck, and Rostock, prevented a potential environmental catastrophe.

The tanker was towed to Rostock, where the fire was finally extinguished.

Fortunately, no severe injuries were reported, and there was no oil spill.

The incident highlights the risks posed by the heavy tanker traffic in the Baltic Sea, one of the world's busiest maritime routes.
