In a tragic incident in Hamburg's Langenhorn district, a 27-year-old man has died following the collapse of a balcony.

The accident occurred last Wednesday when six people, aged between 18 and 27, were helping a friend move into a new apartment.

As they took a break to smoke on the balcony, it suddenly gave way, causing them to fall approximately nine meters from the third floor.

The young man succumbed to his injuries in the hospital on Monday.

Two others remain hospitalized, though they are not in life-threatening condition.

The cause of the balcony's failure is still under investigation, with authorities examining potential structural deficiencies or construction flaws.

In response, a temporary ban on using all balconies in the building complex has been enforced for safety reasons.
