A tragic apartment fire in Dortmund has claimed the life of a 64-year-old woman.

Emergency services responded to the blaze in the city's Nordstadt area, rescuing the woman with life-threatening injuries.

Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries en route to the hospital.

The cause of her death remains unclear.

Six other residents, including a child, were safely evacuated and received medical attention.

The fire has rendered the affected apartment and the one above it uninhabitable.
