In a span of just two days, Cologne's city center has been rocked by two separate explosions, raising concerns and prompting extensive police investigations.
The first incident occurred on Monday morning near a nightclub on the Hohenzollernring, where a 53-year-old man was slightly injured.
The explosion, believed to be intentional, caused significant damage to the building's entrance.
Surveillance footage captured a suspect placing a blue shopping bag, suspected to contain an accelerant, which was then ignited.
Just two days later, another explosion took place early Wednesday morning outside a clothing store on Ehrenstraße.
This blast also resulted in minor injuries and caused substantial damage to the storefront.
The police have cordoned off the area and are actively investigating any potential links between the two incidents.
While there is speculation about the involvement of organized crime, specifically Dutch drug cartels, authorities have not confirmed any connections.
The public is urged to remain vigilant as investigations continue.
