In Schleswig-Holstein, commuters are bracing for potential unannounced bus strikes starting Tuesday, following a decisive vote by the Omnibusverband Nord (OVN) employees.

The union Verdi announced that 98.63% of the workforce supported indefinite strikes, a move prompted by a collapsed wage agreement.

The conflict stems from the OVN's withdrawal from a previously negotiated contract, citing budget cuts by the state government.

This decision affects around 80 private bus companies and 1,700 buses, excluding the Plön district.

The OVN has proposed new negotiations for November 11, but Verdi remains firm on its demands, highlighting the high mobilization among workers.

The strikes, if they proceed, will significantly impact daily commuters and students reliant on public transport.
