The Ringbahnbrücke on Berlin's A100 highway has been fully closed in the northbound direction due to safety concerns.

A growing crack in the 1963-built bridge led to the decision after expert evaluations deemed it unsafe for any traffic.

The closure, which began Wednesday evening, is causing significant traffic disruptions, with widespread detours and long delays expected.

The S-Bahn running beneath the bridge remains operational for now.

Authorities are urging commuters to use public transport or plan extensive detours.

The bridge closure is part of a broader renewal project for the A100 and A115 highways, including 25 bridges.
