Germany's CDU party has announced plans to tighten asylum laws if it wins the upcoming federal election.
CDU General Secretary Carsten Linnemann proposed that asylum seekers lose their residency rights after committing two intentional crimes, including theft or burglary.
He emphasized that those who repeatedly break the law should forfeit their "guest rights" in Germany.
The party also aims to expedite deportations and establish more agreements with other countries to facilitate this process.
CDU leader Friedrich Merz supported the proposal, calling for deportations to countries like Syria and Afghanistan despite ongoing instability.
The CDU's stance reflects a broader shift in Germany's migration debate, with growing public skepticism towards asylum policies.
