Controversy Erupts Over ARD's "Die 100

Published: 2024-09-17

A recent episode of the ARD show "Die 100" has sparked controversy after featuring a participant who changed his stance on the AfD, labeling it a threat to democracy.

The participant, Michael Schleiermacher, was later revealed to be an amateur actor, leading to accusations from AfD leader Alice Weidel and the portal "Nius" that the show was staged to influence public opinion against the AfD.

The ARD and NDR have denied these claims, stating that Schleiermacher was not hired or paid for his appearance, and that participants are free to express their opinions.

The show, which asks participants to physically position themselves on a scale to express their views, ended with a slight increase in those viewing the AfD as problematic.

Despite the controversy, the NDR maintains that the show is unscripted and open to all applicants, regardless of their background.
