Former Berlin Health Senator Dilek Kalayci is facing charges of bribery, as announced by the public prosecutor's office.
The allegations stem from a 2019 incident where Kalayci allegedly had her wedding planned by an advertising agency without payment.
In return, the agency reportedly received a lucrative contract from the health administration she led, valued at €267,830, for a campaign to recruit nursing staff.
The agency's owner is also charged with bribery, having allegedly profited from the deal.
Kalayci's legal team denies the accusations, asserting that she believed all services were properly billed and paid.
The case is now set to be reviewed by a Berlin court, with the presumption of innocence maintained until a verdict is reached.
