A fire broke out on the Ferris wheel at the Highfield Festival near Leipzig on the evening of August 17, 2024. Two gondolas caught fire around 9:00 PM, resulting in several injuries, including two people with serious injuries.

Fortunately, there were no fatalities.

Emergency services, including the German Red Cross, responded promptly, and the situation was brought under control.

The festival, a major rock and pop event at Störmthaler See, was temporarily halted but resumed later in the evening with a performance by Cro.

Authorities have yet to release further details about the incident.
