A New Year’s Eve celebration in Hamburg turned tense when firefighters were targeted with fireworks in the Steilshoop district.

The incident occurred during a fire response at a trash container, prompting the firefighters to withdraw and call the police.

A group of 30 to 40 people was reportedly involved, though it remains unclear if the act was intentional.

Despite this, most of Hamburg experienced a peaceful night, with thousands gathering at landmarks like the Landungsbrücken to welcome 2025. However, isolated incidents, including a fatal firework accident in Ochsenwerder, marred the festivities.

Authorities described the overall night as "largely uneventful," with only minor disruptions reported.
