After months of negotiations, Germany's coalition government and opposition parties have reached a consensus on a resolution to combat antisemitism.
The resolution, titled "Never Again is Now: Protecting, Preserving, and Strengthening Jewish Life in Germany," condemns all forms of antisemitism and calls for concrete measures to address the issue.
This agreement comes in response to a significant rise in antisemitic incidents following the Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023. The resolution highlights the alarming levels of antisemitism linked to migration from North Africa and the Middle East, as well as the growing influence of right-wing extremism.
It proposes closing legal loopholes, banning extremist organizations, and ensuring that no state funding supports antisemitic activities.
The resolution also emphasizes the need for educational institutions to take a firm stance against antisemitic behavior.
