Germany is experiencing a notable increase in life satisfaction, according to the 2024 Glücksatlas.
The study reveals that the national happiness score has risen to 7.06, nearing pre-pandemic levels.
Hamburg leads the rankings with a score of 7.38, attributed to its strong economy and excellent public services.
Meanwhile, the Saarland, Berlin, and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern report the lowest satisfaction levels.
The report highlights that those most affected by the pandemic, such as single individuals and working mothers, have seen significant improvements in their well-being.
Despite these gains, family life satisfaction remains below pre-pandemic levels, partly due to ongoing high living costs.
Overall, the findings suggest that Germany is recovering from the emotional impacts of the pandemic, with both positive and negative emotions on the rise.
