A faulty software update from cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike triggered a worldwide IT outage on Friday, causing widespread disruptions.
Airports faced flight cancellations and delays, while hospitals postponed surgeries and banks experienced service interruptions.
The issue stemmed from CrowdStrike's Falcon Sensor update, which caused crashes in Microsoft Windows systems.
CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz apologized for the incident, emphasizing it was not a cyberattack.
The outage affected critical infrastructure across various sectors, including energy providers, transportation, and telecommunications.
Although the problem was identified and fixed, many systems continued to experience lingering effects throughout the day.
