At the recent gathering of the Junge Union in Halle, JU leader Johannes Winkel expressed skepticism about drafting preambles for potential coalition agreements with the Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) in Thuringia.
Winkel criticized the inclusion of such preambles in state coalition contracts, arguing they are unnecessary and could make the CDU appear ridiculous.
He emphasized the need for the CDU to clearly define its boundaries, especially regarding foreign policy stances, such as opposing any alignment with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Winkel also highlighted the importance of addressing domestic issues like education and migration policy effectively.
Meanwhile, CDU General Secretary Carsten Linnemann criticized Wagenknecht's approach, asserting the CDU's commitment to Western alliances and the non-negotiable support for Ukraine.
Both leaders underscored the need for a strong CDU to lead Germany towards a more responsible and secure future, as they gear up for the upcoming Bundestag elections.
