The mother of Russian opposition figure Vladimir Kara-Mursa has been hospitalized in Berlin's Charité hospital amid suspicions of poisoning.

The Berlin police are investigating the case as a potential attempted homicide after the woman reported symptoms of nausea and suspected poisoning.

She was transferred to the hospital's isolation unit, where extensive blood tests are being conducted to detect any toxic substances.

Kara-Mursa confirmed his mother's hospitalization but stated that initial tests ruled out poisoning and a heart attack, though investigations are ongoing.

He requested privacy for his family during this time.

Kara-Mursa, a prominent Kremlin critic, has survived two previous poisoning attempts and was recently released from Russian detention in a prisoner exchange.
