Northern Germany is set for milder weather at the start of the week, with temperatures reaching up to 12°C in southern areas of Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg.
However, the German Weather Service (DWD) warns of icy conditions before the warm-up, as snowfall on Sunday afternoon may turn to freezing rain.
Drivers are urged to exercise caution.
Over the weekend, icy roads caused over 80 accidents in eastern Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, mostly resulting in property damage.
Traffic was also heavy as holidaymakers returned from coastal regions, with a 12-kilometer jam reported on the A7. The ADAC advises using winter tires and driving slowly in snowy conditions.
