NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte has expressed confidence in the continued support of the United States for the alliance, regardless of the outcome of the upcoming U.
S. presidential election.
Rutte, who recently assumed his role, emphasized that both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris understand the importance of NATO for the security of both Europe and the U.
S. Despite Trump's past threats to withdraw from NATO, Rutte believes that the alliance can rely on U.
S. support even if Trump is re-elected.
Rutte, who has previously worked with Trump, noted that he can collaborate effectively with both Trump and Harris.
He also praised Germany's role in NATO, particularly its increased defense spending and support for Ukraine, highlighting Chancellor Olaf Scholz's leadership.
Rutte's remarks come as NATO continues to strengthen its eastern flank in response to Russian aggression.
