German Chancellor Olaf Scholz used his New Year’s address to urge citizens to stand united in the face of challenges.

Reflecting on the tragic Magdeburg Christmas market attack, which left five dead and over 230 injured, Scholz praised the solidarity shown by first responders and ordinary citizens.

He emphasized that Germany’s strength lies in its unity, urging people not to be divided by external influences or misinformation, particularly on social media.

Scholz also highlighted Germany’s economic resilience, attributing it to the hard work of its diverse population.

With the upcoming federal election, he called on voters to reject extremism and focus on shared values.

"We are a country that stands together," Scholz affirmed, encouraging respect, trust, and engagement among citizens.
