German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has reiterated his commitment to strict border controls and the deportation of criminals, particularly from Afghanistan and Syria.
During a recent citizen dialogue in Saarbrücken, he emphasized that those who commit serious crimes should not remain in Germany.
Scholz stated, "We want to limit irregular migration; the numbers must go down," highlighting ongoing border checks with neighboring countries.
He acknowledged the need for discussions with countries like Pakistan and Syria to facilitate deportations, despite facing resistance from coalition partners, particularly the Greens.
The Chancellor's remarks come amid rising concerns over illegal immigration and the safety of citizens, as he aims to balance the need for skilled migration with the enforcement of immigration laws.
