The SPD in Lower Saxony has unveiled its key players for the upcoming Bundestag election, with party leader Lars Klingbeil securing the top spot on the list.
Despite being less popular in polls than Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, Klingbeil received overwhelming support, solidifying his role as a central figure in the campaign.
The party aims to close a significant gap in polls by focusing on job growth, middle-class relief, and investments in infrastructure and education.
SPD leaders, including Klingbeil and Minister-President Stephan Weil, have emphasized unity and determination, urging members to engage directly with voters.
The campaign has also seen sharp criticism of CDU candidate Friedrich Merz, with Klingbeil questioning his leadership.
The SPD remains optimistic about its chances, despite trailing the CDU and Greens in polls, as the February 23 election approaches.
