The Thuringian branch of Germany's far-right AfD party has finalized its candidates for the upcoming Bundestag elections.
Stephan Brandner, a Bundestag member, secured the top spot on the state list, followed by Stefan Möller, the party's co-leader in Thuringia.
Möller emphasized his commitment to representing East German identity in federal politics.
Meanwhile, Björn Höcke, the long-time leader of the Thuringian AfD, chose not to run for a Bundestag seat, maintaining his focus on regional leadership.
Höcke, a polarizing figure, has faced criticism for his extremist rhetoric but remains influential within the state.
The Thuringian AfD, labeled as "right-wing extremist" by the state’s intelligence agency, continues to face scrutiny as it seeks to expand its influence in national politics.
