In a politically charged incident, two private cars belonging to Brandenburg's Interior Minister, Michael Stübgen, were vandalized with an unknown liquid at his property in Finsterwalde.
The attack, which occurred just days before the Brandenburg state elections, is suspected to have a leftist extremist motive.
A letter claiming responsibility was found, linking the act to opposition against a proposed deportation facility at Berlin's BER airport.
This facility, intended to expedite deportations, is a joint project between federal and state authorities.
The state protection agency is investigating the incident, and a statement from the Interior Ministry is expected soon.
