In Berlin, suspected far-right extremists attacked members of the SPD during a campaign event in Lichterfelde.
A party member was thrown to the ground and kicked in the face and stomach.
The attackers, reportedly en route to a right-wing march in Friedrichshain and Lichtenberg, were from another state.
The incident began with verbal disputes at an SPD stand before escalating to physical violence.
Five individuals were arrested.
Among the victims was Carolyn Macmillan, chair of the SPD faction in Steglitz-Zehlendorf, who expressed her shock.
SPD leaders condemned the attack as an assault on democracy and praised the police for their swift response.
