In Mechernich, North Rhine-Westphalia, a potential sabotage incident at a local water reservoir has raised alarms.

A cut fence was discovered at the site, prompting authorities to warn 10,000 residents against using tap water for drinking, cooking, or washing.

This alert follows a similar incident at the Cologne-Wahn Air Base, where abnormal water values were detected, and a fence breach was found.

While initial tests in Mechernich have largely ruled out chemical or biological contamination, residents are advised to boil water as a precaution.
