In the recent U18 Bundestag election, over 52,000 young people in Bavaria cast their votes, with the CSU emerging as the leading party at 21.2%, followed by the AfD at 17.5%, and the Left Party at 16.8%.
Nationwide, the Left Party led with 20.8%, reflecting a strong focus among youth on social security, justice, and peace in Europe.
The election, organized by the Bayerischer Jugendring, underscores the importance of engaging young voters and calls for lowering the voting age to 14. Despite concerns about the AfD's appeal, the results challenge the notion of a rightward shift among youth, highlighting the role of political education and social media in shaping opinions.
The U18 election serves as a platform for young voices, offering insights into their political priorities.
