AfD Leads in Saxony and Thuringia Polls

Published: 2024-08-25

Recent polls indicate that the Alternative for Germany (AfD) is leading in the upcoming state elections in Saxony and Thuringia.

The Insa survey shows the AfD at 32% in Saxony, ahead of the CDU at 30%, and at 30% in Thuringia, with the CDU trailing at 21%.

The Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) also shows significant support, with 15% in Saxony and 20% in Thuringia.

These results suggest that forming a government without the AfD or BSW may be challenging.

The CDU has ruled out coalitions with the AfD, while other parties are also hesitant to collaborate with them.

The elections, set for September 1, could mark a significant shift in the political landscape of these regions.
