The Dresden Administrative Court has rejected the AfD Saxony's urgent appeal against its classification as a confirmed right-wing extremist group.
The court found sufficient evidence that the party pursues goals against human dignity and democratic principles.
The ruling upholds the Saxon Office for the Protection of the Constitution's December 2023 decision to label the AfD as extremist.
The court cited the party's discriminatory stance towards German citizens with migrant backgrounds and asylum seekers, as well as its cooperation with right-wing extremists.
The AfD also failed in its attempt to force the publication of the 134-page report underlying the classification.
While the decision is not final, it marks a significant setback for the AfD in Saxony, where it has been polling strongly ahead of the September state elections.
