A 22-year-old woman in Berlin has been fined €600 for chanting the controversial slogan "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" during a prohibited pro-Palestinian demonstration.
The ruling, made by the Tiergarten District Court, deemed her actions as endorsing criminal acts, particularly in light of the recent Hamas attacks on Israel.
The court emphasized the timing of her statement, which came just days after the attacks, interpreting it as a denial of Israel's right to exist.
This case has sparked significant debate about freedom of speech, especially since other courts have previously ruled differently on similar slogans.
Following the verdict, protests erupted in the courtroom, highlighting the contentious nature of the issue.
