Brandenburg Faces Highest Flood Alert

Published: 2024-09-24

In Brandenburg, Germany, the highest flood alert level has been declared for the first time in the Oder-Spree district due to rising water levels in the Oder River.

The water level at Ratzdorf has reached 5.90 meters, significantly above the normal level of 2.60 meters, prompting authorities to issue a level 4 alert.

This alert indicates potential flooding of large areas, roads, and buildings.

In nearby Eisenhüttenstadt, some streets and gardens are already submerged, and sandbag barriers are being reinforced.

Despite the severe conditions, no major damage has been reported yet.

The situation is being closely monitored, with emergency services on high alert to manage the flood risks.
