The Cranger Kirmes in Herne, North Rhine-Westphalia, is set to kick off for the 540th time this Friday, marking it as the largest folk festival in the region.
The event will officially begin with a traditional keg tapping ceremony, attended by Herne's Mayor Frank Dudda and Deputy Prime Minister Mona Neubaur.
Organizers expect over four million visitors to enjoy the festivities, which include rides, games, and entertainment from popular artists like Vanessa Mai.
With around 500 vendors participating, the festival promises a vibrant atmosphere along the Rhine-Herne Canal, running until August 11. This family-friendly event is celebrated as Germany's largest fair, drawing crowds from near and far.
