Darknet Child Abuse Platform Dismantled

Published: 2024-10-08

Authorities have successfully dismantled a massive Darknet platform dedicated to child abuse content, arresting six key suspects in Germany.

The platform, operational since 2019, hosted millions of images and videos of sexualized violence against children, with users numbering in the hundreds of thousands worldwide.

Investigations led to raids across six German states, resulting in the seizure of 1,517 devices, including laptops and mobile phones, and 94 boxes of DVDs and videotapes.

The data from just one suspect's computer amounted to 13.5 terabytes, equivalent to 3.4 million photos.

The suspects, aged between 43 and 69, face charges of organized distribution of child abuse material, with potential sentences ranging from 2 to 15 years.

Authorities urge users of such platforms to seek help and express remorse, warning that continued involvement perpetuates the cycle of abuse and exploitation.
