Authorities have dismantled "Kidflix," one of the largest child abuse platforms on the dark web, in a global operation involving 35 countries.
The platform, with nearly two million users, was taken offline under the leadership of Germany's Bavarian State Criminal Police Office.
Investigations began in 2022, leading to 79 arrests and the seizure of over 91,000 videos.
In Germany, searches were conducted in 13 states, including four locations in Thuringia, where extensive data was confiscated.
No arrests were made in Thuringia, but investigations continue.
North Rhine-Westphalia's Interior Minister Herbert Reul has called for stronger tools for law enforcement, emphasizing the need to track criminals in anonymous networks.
Experts highlight the complexity of prosecuting such cases, requiring advanced technology and international collaboration.
